Midday Ceremonies
Midday ceremonies were good enough for Jackie Kennedy and Princess Diana. You will need to get up and get ready earlier, but a midday ceremony can give you much more time to celebrate with your loved ones. With the afternoon hours following the ceremony, you could even tuck in a little cocktail and canapes interval before dinner and the after-party.
Are guests staying overnight at your venue? A midday ceremony could give them the afternoon to take it easy while your photographer takes photos, and then everybody meets up for the evening in the mood to party.
The Statement Aisle
Who says you need to stick to convention when walking down the aisle? Why not consider creating an elegant statement aisle if your wedding venue allows for it? For example, a gently curved aisle allows for a dramatic pause. Your guests won't be able to turn and see you; they will need to wait for you to appear from around the curve before they see you in all your glory.
Another option for a statement aisle is to walk solo down the aisle and be met halfway by your father, mother, or another special person giving you away to add a personal and heartfelt touch to your ceremony.
Create a Speakeasy Cocktail Bar
What better way to surprise and delight your guests than with a secret speakeasy after-party? This works very well with venues that have separate indoor areas you can repurpose as a bar. While the guests might think they're simply going for dinner followed by dancing, you will guide them into your secret bar for some pre-dinner espresso martinis and negronis.
Think roaring 20s flapper chic, upbeat jazz music, and plenty of pizazz when dressing your bar. Why not splash out on a photo booth and props of the era to create authentic and fun photos you'll cherish for many years?
Gloriously Over-the-Top Wedding Cakes
Forget naked wedding cakes or traditional white frosting. This year, it's time for gigantic and over-the-top wedding cakes. Think five feet of buttercream, neon flowers, ganache, and massive cake toppers. These show-stopping cakes demand attention.
2023 is the year where anything goes in the baking department. Whether you're looking for a cake that matches your wedding dress, a tropical cake festooned with vibrant lilies, or a cake topper made from feathers, your wish is your baker's command.
The Great Outdoors
While the restrictions of the pandemic are largely over, one positive impact on the wedding industry is that more people are now favoring outdoor ceremonies and parties. If weather and venue allow, exchanging vows in the great outdoors offers many benefits, not to mention how gorgeous natural lighting looks in photos.
There's no reason why you couldn't host your entire wedding outdoors. For example, a venue with an outdoor dance floor lets guests boogie the night away in the cool evening breeze. There's nothing like having your first dance under the sparkling stars.
The Guest List
Another remnant of pandemic wedding planning comes from the wedding guest list. While the prospect of cutting guest numbers was devastating for many brides and grooms in 2021, smaller weddings and the intimacy they create are becoming increasingly popular.
Pre-pandemic, the average guest list was around 100 guests. Today, that number has shrunk to a respectable but easier-to-manage 70. Having a smaller guest list also cuts down on the drama of deciding whether to invite feuding relatives or the worry of blowing your budget. Remember, it's your wedding day and your guest list.
