THE CLASSICS
SCAVENGER HUNTS
Scavenger hunts prompt your team to think outside the box and have fun together.
Even though setting one up may sound daunting, it doesn’t have to be. You can plan for any level of complexity, time length, or location.
For example, you can plan a scavenger hunt around your local neighborhood, office park, or city. Break up your staff into smaller groups to compete against each other. Then provide them with a “hunt” list with tasks like:
Throwing a coin into an iconic water fountain
Finding a certain newspaper, and taking a selfie with the cover
Heading to a local park and taking a photo of your team going down the slide
Scouring the grocery store for an item that costs 99 cents
Capturing a video of a bird flying in the sky
Need ideas? Teambuilding.com has various tips for in-office, neighborhood, and even virtual scavenger hunts. The sky's the limit to what you can plan. Happy hunting!
EGG TOSSES
Okay, if you think egg tosses are only for kids at Easter– hear us out.
Not only are they simple and cost-effective, but your employees will have a chance to laugh and enjoy a light-hearted activity.
Make teams of two people, or you can stand in a circle and have each team member gently toss an egg from person to person.
To avoid breaking the egg, you’ll need to focus, stay balanced, and trust that the other person will catch it safely. And if it breaks (which, let’s be honest, it probably will), your team will get to practice forgiveness. Who couldn’t benefit from that?
At Modern Moments, we have plenty of room for all kinds of fun (and messy!) team building activities Check out our affordable rates and book a free tour today.
HOLIDAY
FOOD BANK EVENTS
Being of service to others is a great way to bring your team members together and give back to your community at the same time.
Consider volunteering your team to serve meals at your local soup kitchen or pack meals for your local food bank.
The holiday season tends to be a popular time for charity-based team building activities. But your team can engage in year-round philanthropic events such as building bicycles for children’s charities or hosting a school supply drive.
PUMPKIN CARVINGS
Pumpkin carving is a fun and inexpensive way to get creative with coworkers. Have your office manager purchase pumpkins for the team, lay out some vinyl tablecloths, and set aside a few hours of the day for carving.
When finished, display your pumpkins and snap photos for social media so you can celebrate everybody’s original designs and clever creativity!
To make it extra fun, invite team members to dress up for Halloween and then vote on the best costumes and pumpkins!
VIRTUAL
TWO TRUTHS AND A LIE
Can’t bring your team together for an in-person activity? Play a round of “two truths and a lie” over Zoom.
Ask each person to share two pieces of information about themselves that are true and one thing that isn’t true. Then, the team will guess which one is the lie.
For an interesting game, share false information that could be believable. That way, people have to think hard about past conversations they’ve had with you. For example, you might share: “I’ve been skydiving” (truth), “I have 4 sisters” (truth), and “My cat’s name is Frank” (lie).
If your coworkers have paid attention, they might remember that your cat’s name isn’t Frank, but they’ll probably be surprised to learn that you’ve gone skydiving!
Regardless of what ends up being shared, you’ll walk away knowing the people you work with better. It’s an excellent bonding activity, and did we mention it’s free? #WinWin
INSTRUCTOR-LED CLASSES
PAINT BY NUMBERS
Chances are, you’ve probably had friends and family take a “paint by numbers” or “wine and painting” class. But these make for excellent team building events too!
You don’t need any prior painting experience or even artistic ability. An artist will guide your team in painting a beautiful naturescape. At the end, you’ll be surprised at how easy it was to make with instruction. And, you’ll walk away with a lovely painting you can hang on the office wall or take home to display.
Employees will have a chance to mingle, de-stress, and bring out their hidden talents!
TEAM DRUMMING BEATS
This is a fun one. If you’ve never heard of Team Beats before, you’re in for a treat. Hosted by professional team building companies like Teamland, you can bring team members together for an acoustic drumming session.
No prior musical experience is necessary, and trained instructors will provide all the instruments. Employees will gather around to learn samba beats. And in no time, your team will be beating in rhythm with each other.
Build confidence, get outside your comfort zone, and bring everyone together for some smiles!
FAN FAVORITE
BEER & WINE TASTINGS
Not sure that your team is up for painting, drumming, or tossing around an egg? No worries, you can always go with a tried-and-true favorite: beer and wine tasting.
You’ll want to make sure that all employees are interested in an alcohol-based event, but if everyone’s on board, plan a night of wine and cheese pairings, beer flights, or even a virtual beer making class. If you have sober employees who still want to join, stock up on non-alcoholic beverages.
It’s a great way to decompress, bond, and share in each other’s company.
